The Heart-leaved Moonseed (Tinospora cordifolia) is a significant herb from India which helps control blood sugar level and strengthens the immunity system. The Heart-leaved Moonseed is a perennial climbing shrub which grows especially in India where it is known also by the names of Amrita or Guduchi. It is planted mostly in tropical zones at elevations of up to 1,200 m above sea level. The root and the tops are the parts of the plant that contain active substances. The Heart-leaved Moonseed is used in the Indian Ayurveda medicine, to manage increased blood sugar levels.
